Wendy was the second girl to pose in the nude for me and the first girl that I photographed getting undressed.
That was back in 1967 at the Deansgate Studio in Market Street in Manchester.
Although it was a pretty tame shoot by today's standards, I was delighted with the pics. For a start, I had got a set of pictures of a girl taking her clothes off specially for ME, and better still, I had got some pics of a REAL girl in the nude, who had got hair round her vagina, not a sanitized Harrison Marks kind of female nude with depilated pubes and airbrushed labia. As well as being the first girl to do a striptease for me and the first girl with pubic hair that I photographed in the nude, Wendy's other claim to fame is that she was the first, and only girl ever to pose for me in a panty-girdle ... Before mini-skirts and tights came into fashion in the mid 1960's, some women chose to wear girdles with suspenders as an alternative to a suspender belt. I have no idea about how effective they were, but it was claimed that wearing a girdle would give a girl a flatter tummy and a better shaped bum. So for girls who wanted a flatter tummy and a better shaped bum when they were wearing a mini-skirt and tights lingerie designers came up with the panty-girdle. They were quite popular at the time, (a lot of girls called them "gripper knickers") and to my surprise, 40 years later, both panty-girdles and suspender-girdles are still available. I am not sure why Wendy was wearing a panty-girdle when she arrived at the studio for the shoot because she had a very nice shapely 36C-26-36 figure, but at least it gave me the chance to photograph a girl in an item of underwear that I guess only a specialist fetish lingerie model would pose in today. Before leaving the subject of panty-girdles, I have to say that they are definitely NOT my favourite item of female lingerie. It was bad enough when girls started to wear tights instead of stockings because tights rather restricted being able to finger a girl's cunt. But if she was wanting to be fingered, (and hopefully, more) there were ways round the problem. But a panty-girdle killed all that. For me, it was the modern day equivalent of a medieval chastity belt. If the girl you were dating was wearing one, your best bet was to cut your losses, go and have a few pints with your mates in the pub, then go home and have a wank. But back to Wendy and her Panty-Girdle Strip ... Underneath her gripper-knickers, she was wearing tights, and underneath the tights were a pair of white cotton floral print knickers ... exactly the same kind of floral pattern that you still often see on the everyday sort of knickers that a lot of girls wear today. After she had taken the knickers off and I had taken a few shots of her in the nude, I discovered that it was going to be almost a re-run of my shoot with Marie from Nottingham because like Marie, Wendy hadn't brought any underwear with her for the shoot. But at least she had the bra, the panties and the tights that I had already photographed her wearing, and she had brought a nice low-neck mini-dress with her which she said she was planning to wear after she finished at the studio. So to finish off the shoot Wendy did another strip for me with the same bra, panties and tights on under the mini-dress, but this time I asked her to wear the panties Over the Top of her tights, which is how most girls wore their knickers in those days. But this is what I think is the really interesting bit about Wendy ... Although she was listed as Wendy Davies in the Deansgate Studio's model register, Wendy told me during the shoot that that was her professional name, although sometimes she also called herself Rita Hayes. And although she said that she enjoyed modelling and posing in the nude, her first love was appearing on a stage ... NOT as a stripper which is was I first thought that she meant, but with all her clothes ON. At the time I guessed that she was probably a chorus girl or a maybe a dancer. It never occured to me that she might be an actress ... or a girl who was going to become a well known actress ... I have to be honest and say that that thought did not occur to me until I started scanning Wendy's photographs for this website. But the more that I look at her pictures and the more that think I about it, the more convinced I am that the girl who took her panty-girdle and everything off for me in 1967, subsequently appeared regularly on TV. I am not going to mention her name, or any of the programmes in case I am wrong, but I am sure that Wendy's best known role was as the leading lady in a very popular late 70's/early 80's TV sit-com which was set in the north of England. When I did a second shoot at Deansgate with Cindy in 1971, Wendy's name and her pictures no longer appeared in the model register. But some things hadn't changed at all in the four years since I had photographed Wendy ... As you can see in my pics of Cindy, the curtains, the wallpaper and the cushions on the bed are all exactly the same ... it's only the bedspread that's different ... |
